JCC was delighted to co-organise with the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF), in anticipation of the 50th Anniversary of Japan-Singapore Diplomatic Relations. Three Japanese films were screened as part of JCC Cinema from Saturday, 28th November to Saturday, 5th December 2015 namely,‘The Ark in the Mirage’, ‘Happy Hour’ and ‘That's It’. The films were screened in National Gallery Singapore, the Projector and the Shaw Theatre.
‘The Ark in the Mirage’ is Director Yasutomo Chikuma’s second feature. As an upcoming film maker making his way into various international festivals, ‘The Ark in the Mirage’ is no exception. The film touches the soul, following the protagonist who encounters much brutality in his life.

‘Happy Hour’ follows an intimate group of friends with their journey through joy and tribulation. Director Ryusuke Hamaguchi stayed in Singapore for a few days during the festival. Mr. Hamaguchi, was awarded the best director prize for Asian features film categories in silver screen awards presentation on 5 December 2015. Click Here
Last, but not least was ‘That's It’.’, directed by Gakuryu Ishii. The film depicts the twisted life of young adults in Japan. The punk essence of Ishii is well infused in the movie, creating a thought provoking feature. The three films received great response and we are excited to present more in 2016. Be sure to catch our film event updates next year! |
